Backlights Types:
OLED (latest technology): SAMSUNG self-luminous, no backlight, wide display color gamut, no smear, fast response.
– LCD (newer technology): higher pixel density than OLED at the same resolution, longer life, only edp/LVDS interface.
– CCFL (older technology): Lighting, shorter lifespan than LCD, easy to burn-in, has two wires.
Knowing your original screen backlight type is very important as they are not interchangeable.
The difference between LCD and OLED:
1. Display principle, LCD produces electric field effect through twisted nematic molecules of liquid crystal, and OLED is composed of luminescent material layer;
2. Thickness, LCD screen is hard and thick, OLED is relatively light and thin;
3. Price, LCD is cheaper than OLED;
4. Service life, LCD has a longer service life than OLED;
5. Color performance, OLED color performance is better than LCD.
